Welcome Back to School! Meet the Tutors & Friends Team
The backpacks are packed, schedules are set, and classrooms are filling up again.
For many of our students, this week marks the beginning of a brand new school year, and everyone at Tutors & Friends wants to say:
Welcome back!
A new school year means new teachers, new classes, new challenges, and plenty of opportunities to grow. It also means our tutoring team is back and ready to support students through whatever this year brings.
We are especially excited about our team this year. Many of the tutors our families have come to know and love are returning, and we have also welcomed some incredible new educators to Tutors & Friends.
Some Familiar Faces Are Back
We are incredibly grateful to have so many talented tutors returning for another school year.
Gabe is back bringing his enthusiasm for helping students build confidence in math and science, while Kai, a Chemical Engineering student at UC San Diego, continues helping students tackle challenging STEM subjects.
Safiyya, a General Biology student at UC San Diego, returns with her personalized approach to biology, anatomy and physiology, Spanish, and more. And Natalie, a Mathematics major concentrating in Statistics, is back helping students make math feel more approachable and understandable.
These four represent just a few of the returning tutors who have become an important part of the Tutors & Friends community.
Meet Some of Our New Tutors
We have also added some fantastic new faces to the team. Here are just a few of them:
Trent joins us as a STEM tutor, adding even more depth to our math and science team.
Cailey joins us as a general tutor who can support students across a variety of academic needs.
Cody is one of the newest additions to our humanities team as we continue expanding our support beyond math and science.
And Avery, an Applied Mathematics student at UC San Diego with previous experience at Mathnasium and as a private tutor, joins us with a passion for helping students build confidence rather than simply finding the right answer.
We are excited to see the impact Trent, Cailey, Cody, Avery, and all of our new tutors have on students this year.
Finding the Right Tutor Matters
One reason we have continued growing our team is simple:
There is no single perfect tutor for every student.
A student struggling with AP Chemistry needs something very different from a middle school student who has lost confidence in math. A student preparing for the SAT has different needs from a college student taking statistics.
Sometimes personality fit matters just as much as academic background.
That is why we have intentionally built a team with tutors specializing across math, science, humanities, SAT and ACT preparation, and college level coursework.
Our job is not simply to find an available tutor.
It is to help find the right tutor for your student.
More Than Better Grades
Of course, we want our students to earn great grades.
But great tutoring should accomplish something bigger.
We want students to become more confident and independent learners.
Our tutors guide students through difficult concepts, ask questions, and help them develop the skills to eventually solve problems without assistance.
One of our favorite things to hear during a lesson is:
"Wait. I think I can do this one myself."
That's the goal.
We're Ready for Whatever This Year Brings
There will be great weeks this year.
There will probably be some difficult ones too.
There will be challenging homework assignments, confusing lectures, big projects, finals, SAT and ACT dates, AP exams, and probably an occasional:
"I have a test tomorrow and I don't understand any of this."
That's school.
And we're here for all of it.
Gabe, Kai, Safiyya, Natalie, Trent, Cailey, Cody, and Avery represent just a small part of our growing team.
You can meet the entire Tutors & Friends team here and learn more about each tutor's background and specialties.
To our returning students and families, welcome back.
And to everyone joining Tutors & Friends for the first time, we're so glad you're here.
Here's to an amazing school year from all of us at Tutors & Friends!
